Hold the phone: Cleveland Browns recently announced that they picked no. 22 Jonny Manziel to commit to a four-year contract estimated to be worth around $8.2 million. Along with a $4.3 million signing bonus, the club also opted for a fifth-year option. I was initially surprised by the news, since Manziel was rumored to be competing against Brian Hoyer for the quarterback position.

Hoyer was supposedly leading against Manziel in this month’s mandatory minicamp, but head coach Mike Pettine thought that Manziel was the better option. In fact, he has openly said to several members of the media that the gap between Manziel and Hoyer was not "insurmountable." Manziel will begin with the rest of the Browns team on July.

I can actually see why Manziel was chosen. Johnny is a superior athlete and I was impressed by his performance during the practices. He still has a few things to work on but I am sure that these can be improved during training. Many people still think that Hoyer should have been made quarterback but I think this is a good choice made by the management and I am looking forward to seeing Manziel play with the rest of the team.
Coincidentally, the draft pick coincides with Manziel cleaning up his social media account, particularly his Twitter.
With Manziel now formally under contract, the Browns have four of the six draft picks. They still have to come into an agreement with No. 8 overall pick, Justin Gilbert, but I think that there will not be any hassle with this.
The new draft picks make me even more excited to watch the upcoming season.
